Directing
Stephanie has directed movement-based, interdisciplinary performance, dance & theater since 1975.
Since 2005, she has served as Associate Artistic Director of The Gravity Project, an integrative theater company of professional directors, actors, movers, designers & composers, affiliated with Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA.
Core Gravity Project artists include director Andy Belser, designers Randy Ward & John Ambrosone, video artist Nathan Wagoner, and collaborating actor/dancers Kate Clarke, Nate Dryden, Andrew Olewine, & David Nevell.
With The Gravity Project, Stephanie has directed existing scripts, as well as theater works generated from poetry, & original ensemble-generated works, including:
Nine Gates (2006) based on poems by Jane Hirschfield, Stephen Dobyns & others
A Midsummer Night's Dream (2006)
Enrico IV (2007) loosely based on the play by Pirandello
Return (2009) original work about sense of place, with shadow puppets by Stephen Kaplan
